Carson Magnuson BEd
Strategic Officer, Indigenous Engagement
Carson grew up in Saskatoon and is a registered band member with Kawacatoose First Nation in Treaty 4 Territory. He joins the Office of the Vice-Provost, Indigenous Engagement (OVPIE) with 5 years of experience in other capacities at USask. He holds a Bachelor of Education from the Indian Teacher Education Program and is working toward a master's in Educational Foundations, with a focus in anti-racism and anti-oppression in post-secondary education. Carson’s work is grounded in ohpahotân/oohpaahotaan - the Indigenous Strategy, included in this involves maintaining many of the Memorandum of Understandings and agreements with Indigenous communities and organizations at USask. This work provides guidance to many other projects and policies taken on by the OVPIE team, including deybwewin – taapwaywin – tapwewin – Indigenous Truth Policy, and the smudging and ceremonies policy.
