Carson Magnuson BEd, MEd
Strategic Officer, Indigenous EngagementCarson grew up in Saskatoon and is a registered band member with Kawacatoose First Nation in Treaty 4 Territory. He joins the Office of the Vice-Provost, Indigenous Engagement (OVPIE) with over 6 years of experience in other capacities at USask. He holds a Bachelor of Education from the Indian Teacher Education Program and a master's in Educational Foundations, with a focus in anti-racism and anti-oppression in post-secondary education. Carson’s work is grounded in ohpahotân/oohpaahotaan - the Indigenous Strategy, included in this involves maintaining many of the Memorandum of Understandings and agreements with Indigenous communities and organizations at USask. This work provides guidance to many other projects and policies taken on by the OVPIE team, including deybwewin – taapwaywin – tapwewin – Indigenous Truth Policy, and the smudging and ceremonies policy. Above all, his work is grounded in carving a path for his son and daughter along with other Indigenous youth to have educational experiences that include and lift up Indigenous ways of knowing and being
